Spiritual Famine is a horrible way to die; your insides dry up, you thirst for water, your hungry for bread and in that day none will be found. You will turn back to the dust from where you came from. Our Lord will remove His covering from this land and expose the nakedness of the children of men. We wander back today to the time of the ancients to one of the great minor prophets, Amos.
The book of Amos holds God’s people accountable for their ill-treatment of others. It repeatedly points out the failure of the people to fully embrace God’s idea of justice. They were selling off needy people for goods, taking advantage of the helpless, oppressing the poor, and the men were using women immorally. Drunk on their own economic success and intent on strengthening their financial position, the people lost the concept of caring for one another.
Amos lived in the southern part of Judea and delivered his prophecy to the nation of Isreal. The northern kingdoms surrounding Israel were quite profitable at the time. However, the moral decay that also occurred at that time counteracted any positives from the material growth.
11: Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
13: In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst [Amos:8]
Ezekiel wrote years before; “and I will lay the dead carcasses of the children of Israel before their idols; I will scatter your bones about the altars”.
Spiritual Famine occurs when the altar gives a standing ovation to a pastor that commits sexual assault on a young lady. When the Pope in Argentina condemns sexual assault victims for blaming the church because of one his Cardinals sexually assaulted children years earlier.
Children of the Gentiles mimic what they see and if the church gives a pass on sexual abuse. This becomes normalized behavior to be repeated. Your bones, men claiming to believe in Christ, will be spread around the altars because you did not believe in Christ at the crucifixion.
You are condemning your wife and children to death. Simple as that.
To the elect, there will be only a remnant that will enter the kingdom of God. Elect means chosen the ones that follow Christ and not organized religion. In that regard, only a few will enter the Kingdom.
