Greetings to the saints and elect ladies across the land. Once again across the fruited plains of the Gentiles, a misinterpretation of Christ’s word surfaces.
APOLOGETICS: A well-known Pastor preached on the following scripture;
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; it shall remove; nothing shall be impossible unto you. [Matt. 17:20]
His Premise: By your faith, you can pull up a tree by the roots and move it, or you can even move a mountain; nothing was impossible with a little faith. This thinking leaves the audience thinking that they can literally move a mountain. I have heard this preaching over the years and it causes a lot of saints and the elect ladies to question their faith.
And when they came to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?[Matt.17: 14-19]
A look at the scriptures: the disciples were confused as to why they could not cast out the Devil from the man’s child. Christ tells the disciples, they did not have enough faith in Him.
Mountain is a figure of speech: Depending on the scripture, (depending on its usage) in this case it means your mind [ soul=mind], which is the highest point on your body. This is where belief and unbelief reside in your mind [soul]. Your heart [spirit] and your mind [soul] will confirm the truth. Where there are two, I am there with you.
This is another use of the word mountain: And say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I [even] I, will bring a sword upon you and destroy your high place. [Ezek.6:3]
[a] He [Ezekel] speaks of the places where the Israelites accustomed to commit their idolaters, threatening them with destruction.
This last sentence speaks of the Lord God bringing the sword of Truth and destroying your high place [mind]. And scatter your bones around your idols, layman terms, your idol could be the NFL, social media, porn anything that takes your eyes off God. Your blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and you will die.
To the elect, read the Word, ask questions and talk to the Father and say your prayers.
11:1 Now [1 ]faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
(1) An excellent description of faith by the effects, because it represents things which are but yet in hope, and sets as it were before our eyes things that are invisible [Heb.11]
